One of the top actress of Kollywood (Tamil Film), Trisha Krishnan has been signed by director Priyadarshan to play a role opposite Bollywood's Akshay Kumar in movie Khatta Meeta (2009) . The director had introduced Trisha seven years ago to the Kollywood in movie Lesa Lesa in Tamil. The movie is schedule to start shooting in November 2009. Trisha has already worked with the best in the business like Rajnikanth , Kamal Hassan megastar Chiranjeevi.
Bipasha Basu Bipasha Basu Opposite Hollywood Star Billy Zane

Director Tapan Saha has signed Titanic star Billy Zane opposite Bipasha Basu in his upcoming movie Chimera (2009) . The director has also promised a passionate scene between Billy and Bipasha. Shabana Azmi will play Bipasha’s mother, and Anil Kapoor as Zane’s Indian friend. Earlier Bipasha has done love scenes opposite Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham .

Katrina Kaif Bollywood Strike Ends Between Multiplex and Producers

A two month strike by the producers of Bollywood movies has now come to an end. The producers had gone no strike in April in regrads to the revenue sharing terms with the multiplex owners and not released any movie for the last two months. Now that the terms have been argreed to by both parties, Bollywood films would start to be on the big screen starting next Friday June 12. The first once out of the gates will be Vashu Bhagnani's Kal Kisne Dekha (2009) and Mithun Chakraborty starrer "Zor Laga Ke Haiya", followed by New York (2009) starring John Abraham and Katrina Kaif . The final settlement, 50, 42, 35 and 30 percent of collections in the first, second, third and fourth weeks respectively will be shared between the two parties.

On May 11, Nick India, started airing a new TV series based on Little Krishna. The 13 episode series, dubbed in Hindi and English, is India's first 3D animated TV series developed at the cost of 50 crore. It was developed by Reliance’s BIG Animation Studio in association with The Indian Heritage Foundation and was scripted by Jeffrey Scott, the man behind the Ice Age and Ninja Turtles television series. Parikshit Dasa of Lion King was in charge of art direction. The series created content that required 30 Terra Bytes of virtual space and was supported by gigabyte network through RX Foundry for smooth work flow process, while Blue Arc was used as the storage system.

On May 25, 2009, NDTV Imagine will telecast a new TV show, Seeta Aur Geeta. The show Seeta Aur Geeta is an adaptation of the 1970's hit movie of the same name starring Hema Malini. The role of Seeta and Geeta will be played by Anjorie Alagh .

Sonia Gandhi , the head of the ruling Congress party, cut the ribbon to officially open the bridge to connect western suburbs of Bandra to Worli. The bridge took nine years of construction at cost of more then $400m. The bridge is over the Arabian Sea and has eight lanes and promised to reduce the travel time from 45 minutes to less then 10 minutes. The first of its kind in the country, the 5.6 km link was conceived in the 1990s. The two central towers that soar above the sea will change the city’s iconic skyline.

Nokia’s touch screen multimedia N97 smartphone was introduced in India last week through Vodafone and is being dubbed as yet another iPhone killer. The new N97 comes with a large 3.5-inch touch screen, slide out Qwerty keyboard, be able to play the Flash videos (which the Apple iPhone currently is unable to do so), supports instant-messaging and email on the go, five megapixel camera, and 48GB of memory, with one button, ‘always-on’ access to social networking sites such as Facebook, built-in GPS and cost of around Rs. 37000.

HTC Hero running the Android OS features new intuitive interface dubbed HTC Sense, 3.2-inch HVGA (320x480) TFT-LCD touchscreen, runs on Qualcomm's 528MHz MSM7200A processor and has 512MB ROM with 228MB RAM, microSD memory expansion slot, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, digital compass, gravity sensor, built-in internal GPS antenna, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, Bluetooth 2.0, first Android OS based phone that brings Adobe Flash support for web browsing, HTC Hero will be available for Europe in July 2009, Asia in late summer 2009 and North American version will arrive in late 2009.

At the World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco, Apple introduced the next generation iPhone . The new iPhone will be known as iPhone 3GS and includes features such as more speed, 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and white balancing, ability to record and edit videos on the handset, built in voice controls for hands free operation, cut, copy, and paste capabilities, device tethering, HTTP streaming, auto-fill, multi language support, and built in compass. The new iPhone 3GS will be available on June 19 for $199 for the 16 GB version, and the 32 GB version will cost $299 with a new contract. And the iPhone 3G, 8 GB version now costs $99 with a new two year contract.

The high priced golden culinary herb saffron, made from crocus flowers, and used in cooking, may hold one of the keys to preventing the loss of sight in old age and could even help improve vision in people suffering from certain blinding eye diseases. A team found that saffron slows the loss of sight becuase the herb has remarkable effects on the genes which actually regulate the performance of the eye's key vision cells.

The unseeded Indian, Sania Mirza , was able to continue her good run at the Aegon Classic by beating 16th seed Hungarian Melinda Czink in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (4) on Friday. Sania will now face winner of the other quarter final match between 13th seed Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova and unseeded Polish Urszula Radwanska. This event is a precursor to Wimbledon.
