Salman Khan Salman Khan Sentenced To 5 years Imprisonment
Date: 08/24/2007:
Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment by the Session’s Court in Jodhpur for his role in the Chinkara poaching case of which he was convicted on April 10, 2006. The case involves hunting of two black bucks back in September 28, 1998 while he was shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Celina Jaitley Featured On Maxim India August 2007

Celina Jaitley was again featured on the cover of August 2007 issues of magazine Maxim India. She was previously on the cover back in 2006. This time she in on the cover because of her love for animals and to support PETA India with their campaign 'Sexy for a Cause'. Mumbai recently banned captive elephants within the city limits after pressure from PETA India which has backing of many Bollywood celebrites and politician.

This past weekend Amitabh Bachchan was present at the Lincoln Center to recites poem's written by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were also present at the event.
The following day, Indian's had organized a parade to celebrate India's 60th independence anniversary. Priyanka Chopra was the grand marshal for the parade. Astronaut Sunita Williams, comedian Johnny Lever were also present at the parade that was organized by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA). The parade was held along Madison Avenue from 41st Street to 23th Street in Manhattan.

Dubai World, investment holding firm of the Dubai government, announced that it has agreed to invest up to $5.2 billion in MGM Mirage. The deal will involve Dubai World purchasing 9.5 percent stake in MGM for about $2.4 billion and will invest about $2.7 billion, a 50 percent stake in MGM's CityCenter project. Which is a 76-acre Las Vegas development project that includes hotels, condos and retail outlets and s due to open in 2009.

Hurricane Dean is heading towards Tulum, Mexico which has forced many tourists to flee the vacation location and beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Petroleos de Mexico, a Mexico's state oil company, will be evacuating more then 14,000 offshore workers. Cancun's international airport was busy with many tourists waiting to get flights to head out.

Sania Mirza to meet Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi in the first round of U.S. Open tennis championship which will be starting next week in New York. Sania is ranked 26th for the US Open, making her the first Indian woman player to be seeded in the singles event of a Grand Slam.

Sania Mirza is had a disappointing outing at the Pilot Pen tennis tournament at New Haven, USA. She lost to Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko in the second round 3-6, 6-0, 3-6. Sania and her Italian partner Mara Santagelo won their doubles match to advance to quarterfinals in women's doubles after defeating American Corina Morariu and Meghann Shaughnessy 6-4, 7-5.

Sania Mirza is now ranked 28th in the WTA singles rankings and has been seeded 26th at the US Open. The US Open will start next week in New York and will have Indian tennis player Sania Mirza ranked 26th at the US Open. The top male seed is Roger Federer and top female seed is Justine Henin, who are both also ranked No 1 in the world.
