Former Miss World Aishwarya was ranked ninth on the list which included Angelina Jolie taking the top spot followed by Supermodel Christy Turlington, , and Queen Rania of Jordan also made the list.

Aishwarya Rai Is Ill?

Amitabh Bachchan who is currently in Singapore said that former Miss World and daughter in law, Aishwarya Rai has chest infection and flu-like symptoms is now making a slow recovery. The 66 year old actor is in Singapore to be with his friend and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who underwent medical treatment there. Aishwarya Rai is currently in Ooty, where she is shooting for Mani Ratnam’s film Ravana (2009) with her husband Abhishek Bachchan .

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan And Akshay Kumar Receive Padma Shri Award

Indian film stars Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with other from the India's industries were given the Padma Shri awards 2009 by President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday March 31, 2009 in New Delhi. The actors were among the 62 personalities who received the Padma awards. Bollywood dancing queen of yesteryears, Helen, was also given with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Awarded French Award

The French government has announced that they will give Aishwarya Rai Bachchan the Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres (officer of the order of arts and letters), which is the second highest civilian honour given by the French government. But unfortunately, Ash has refused to accept the award at the date and time set by the French government because currently her father's health is not well. Ash would like all of her family to be there when she receives the award. This will also be the second person from Bollywood to receive such an honour. The first person to receive the honour was non other then the King Of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan .

Akshay Kumar And Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Awarded The Padma Shree

Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were awarded the top civilian honours, the Padma Shree, on the 60th year of the Indian republic day. The awards were given by the Government of India. Akshay has worked hard to make a place in the film industry for himself also reward the award. He had a great 2008 with multiple box office hits, but started off 2009 with Chandni Chowk To China, Made In China, CC2C (2009) , which did not meet the expectation and did not do well at the box office. Aishwarya will have her first Hollywood film, Pink Panther 2, The Next Pink Panther, The Pink Panther Deux (2009) release in India this year. Helen, the well known item girl with many great hits was also given the Padma Shree.

Bollywood made it's presences felt at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival being held in Cannes, France. Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was present with the her new family including husband Abhishek Bachchan, father in law Amitabh Bachchan and mother in law Jaya Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was at the Cannes as part of her role as a model for L'Oreal and was pictured with Hollywood stars Eva Longoria Parker . Also present was Angelina Jolie with husband Brad Pitt. Earlier in the day Angelina was seen at the premiere of her new animated film Kung Fu Panda along with costars Dustin Hoffman and Jack Black.

Jodha Akbar A Big Success

Jodha Akbar (2008) has had a great start for the movie as well as for Bollywood in 2008. The movie has grossed over Rs 120 crore worldwide since its release one month ago. Of that Rs 90 crores from within India and the remaining from the rest of the world. The movie stars the Dhoom 2 pair of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the Oscar nominated director Ashutosh Gowariker . Ashutosh has previosly directed Lagaan and Swades. Even with the bans in several Indian states that was faced by the movie, the movie did very well in the opening weeks. The film was released on 1000 screens of which 400 were through digital cinemas within India. The movie was dubbed in Hindi, Telegu, and Tamil and released in 25 countries in North America, Europe, Asia and West Asia.

Jodhaa Akbar banned in Madhya Pradesh

Before Jodaa Akbar was released there had been a lot of protest by the Rajput community on the events showen in the movie with what actually took place in history, which still seems to be an issue after the release of the movie. A lot of cinema halls all over the world did not show the movie and now the movie has been banned in Madhya Pradesh by the Madhya Pradesh government. The movie stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan . There was also news that Nitin Chandrakant Desai owner of the N.D. Studio would open his studios to the public to allow them to view the sets that were created for Jodha Akbar (2008) .

This past weekend Amitabh Bachchan was present at the Lincoln Center to recites poem's written by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were also present at the event.
The following day, Indian's had organized a parade to celebrate India's 60th independence anniversary. Priyanka Chopra was the grand marshal for the parade. Astronaut Sunita Williams, comedian Johnny Lever were also present at the parade that was organized by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA). The parade was held along Madison Avenue from 41st Street to 23th Street in Manhattan.

The ceremony was small, but the bringing togetherness of the two by far was not. Both are well established actors in Bollywood, and Aish is well known worldwide. She has a wax status of her in London's world famous Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum next to her new father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, has won the Miss World crown in 1994, has a flower named after, has endorsements with many big companies like Revlon and has worked in many movies with varity of role and success. It is not to say that Abhishek is left behind, he also has found great success with his movies and is making a name for himself in Bollywood. He has to work very hard too fill the shoes of Bollywood's biggest star, his father Amitabh Bachchan .

Per the Indian tradition, the wife in most cases accepts the lastname of the husband and leaves behind the lastname given by her father. We will have to wait and see what Aishwarya Rai , known throught out the world, will do. Will she chose to keep her name as is? Make Rai her middle name and adopt Abhishek's lastname as hers and be known as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan .

Aishwarya Rai along with the Bachchans visited a Kashi Vishwanath Temple or Sankat Mochan Temple in Varanasi to perform a prayer. The reason for the puja was to commemorate the birth anniversary of Amitabh’s father, late Harivanshrai Bachchan. Since then the rumors of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan marriage have gone wild on the web. Aishwarya Rai is world know for winning the Miss World title and has starred in many Bollywood's biggest hits. Recently her 2 movies Umrao Jaan and Dhoom 2 have released and two more, Guru and The Last Legion (2007) is due to release in the next few months.

Aishwarya Rai summoned by Customs Department

Aishwarya Rai has been sent a summon by the Customs Department to appear at their office at Ballard Pier. The report is that a parcel from Netherlands has arrived that contains 24,000 euros, a DVD player, a Ralph Lauren Polo Sport T-shirt and pair of binoculars addressed to her. The Customs Department opened the parcel in front of witnesses once the actress failed to come to the office. Aishwarya Rai who is currently shooting for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Jodha Akbar (2007) is not in Mumbai and will possibly return by this weekend.

Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan Off To Jodhpur

Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan packed their bags and headed off to Jodhpur on jet plane to start to shoot Costume drama Jodha Akbar (2007) . Aish seems to star in many movies that required fancy costume from Chokher Bali to Devdas to Umrao Jaan to The Last Leagion and now Jodha Akbar. The movie is being directed by Ashutosh Gowariker who has previously directed Swades starring Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) and Lagaan staring Aamir Khan .

Aishwarya Rai celebrates her 33rd birthday

Aishwarya Rai celebrated her 33rd birthday on Wednesday, Nov 1, 2006. She attented special midnight screening of her latest movie Umrao Jaan at Film City. He had visited Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai with her family during that day. Aish was born on Novenber 1, 1973 in Bangalore, India and rose to stardom after she won the coveted crown of Miss World 1994. She made her film debut with Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar in 1997 and in Bollywood the same year with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. Her 1999 film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam brought her success.
